Text: Matt
3:1-4:5, John 3:16, 6:35-59,Exo 33:17-23
Objectives: To teach students functions of Trinity in Laymans term; and cause them to understand and enabling them
to teach others.
Introduction: One
night while I was watching one of the religious TV show, It was sad to know that more than million of people had a hard
time to understand trinity. Isaid this because I have seen people believed that The 'son of god" is here and he is
Davao.
I've made a question in my mind, is the Pastors failed to teach theology in our
country and to the church? Or the false teacher like him are very loud when teaching their wrong theology. Or maybe
when the theologian teaches theology, they failed to connect and explain to the world according to their language.
Or maybe we have poor promotion of our correct theology.
Sometimes I once asked myself the meaning of God is here, did He left the throne and came down to the earth? Or sometimes
if God is in heaven He is not in the earth. Or He is in heaven and He is everywhere, then how many Gods, where is
they, Who is they are This is the common question that the people searches the answer. They dont care the authenticity
of the doctrine they just simply searching somebody to explain this theological problem.
The word trinity
is not a mystery, but a revealed idea; it can be understood, studied, and quantifiable. Obviously there are only three
Persons in trinity. The word trinity is not found in the bible but the essence of trinity is always mentioned in the
Bible. By using theological view points and the philosophical arguments we can understand that the trinity is
not a mystery. But the divinity of the trinity is a mystery and we cannot measure and understand the Divinity of God.
1.
In theological methodology: Matt 3,4: There are three Persons in God, The Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Each person is fully God, and there is one God. More explanations in number 4 and 5.
2. In philosophical methodology:
God the Father is in Heaven and He never dies as Jesus, and He never also grieve as the Holy Spirit grieved Because
He is different from them yet they are in one or one God in three persons. God the Father is transcendent, He is in heaven
and no one can see Him, except Jesus His Son. Holy Spirit is the matter of all matters that occupy space. The
Son is the mater and the reflection of the Father. These three Persons have also different attributes, emotions and
their metaphysics. They have different substance, and they have different function in the Laws (Human, laws and Spiritual
Law and Natural Law gravity, relativity, dynamics etc.. Jesus broke the Law of Nature when he walks on water and heals
the sick and performs wonders. He also performs Human law when he obeys the taxation, submits parental guidance and
teaches moral law in the sermon of the mount. He also demonstrates Spiritual Law following the cause and effects in doing
the will ! of His Father. For example He died on the cross and was resurrected. More explanations for the Holy Spirit
and Father in the following numbers
3. The Divine Energy: Holy Spirit
The immanence of God the Father is expressed through the Son, the Holy Spirit is the ministering spirits or the Angels.
A. The bible. We should bear in mind that angels, or the Holy Spirits or the angels are the instruments of Gods Divine
energy. One example of the symbol of the holy spirit is in Genesis 1:1-2 The Spirit is wind, there are more than twenty
symbols of the Holy Spirit in the bible. Like dove, oil, water, fire, and more. These are the source of divine energy
of God.
B. In New Testament. The birth of Jesus in the manger and the appearance of the angels and the stars were Gods Divine
energy. Jesus is with us, so we can say that God is with us, God is with us in His presence but He is not with us
in His essence. God is transcendent, he cant be with us because He is Holy, He is with us immanent through His Divine
energy Son and Holy Spirit.
4.Divine Essence of God: God The Father
God is not with us in His Essence or in His substance. His essence is always in heaven, and no one can see Him except
the Son. But who sees the Son sees the Father. The essence of God sometimes used Jesus as the reflection of the image
of the Father. The father and the Holy Spirit are one but the essence substance is different. The divine essence
of God the Father unto us is only the expression to His Son or to the Holy Spirit. But never the God the Father leaves
the Heaven came to the earth and became immanentHis substance is with us. No! And never God the Father leave His throne
and He never became the Mother of Mary, only His Son Jesus became the son of Mary.
5. Relationship Persons
in Trinity: God the Son The analogy of Love: God is love; therefore He loves His only begotten Son John 3:16. The
Son which the beloved of the Father, makes His father, Father; and the essence of love they have is the Holy Spirit
because Love made them one.
The Love: And their relationship has no flow without love, Love the Holy Spirit is the one who made them in contact, and
unite into one. Their relationship is in quite distance, when Jesus came to the earth, the Father is in Heaven. Jesus
as a Son reveals Himself the image of the Father and Himself as a Son.
The Prayer: Jesus call His Father in prayer My Father, thou art in Heaven. God is in Heaven which Jesus is in earth. Jesus
as appeared to men in Human form, yet their were still in unity because of Love. The Love carried by the Holy Spirit
is the one who made them one.
The Cross: The heavenly Father sent His only begotten Son who died on the cross, call Him Father in your hands I commit
my Spirit. There was a separation of the Father and the Son, As the Son bears the Sin of the world.
The Emotion and Action: The Father grieved for His Son, and the Son grieved for the pain of paying the prize of Sins of
the world. The God the Father was bestowing His Divine energy, By causing darkness to fall during the day, the earthquake,
the renting of the veil in the Temple. God the Father is revealing His might, and wisdom. His Divine energy, cause
also the tom where Jesus was buried open.
The Separation: The relationship between the Father and the Son was separated for the moment when Jesus bears the sins
of the world Jesus became a sinner and His Father God is holy and he cannot be with the sinners; so Jesus died in
the Death of separating himself to the Father and the Holy Spirit because of Sin. And Jesus died and gave up His life
because of bearing the pain of the Sin that He cannot bear except giving up His Life. But as Jesus came to life, Jesus
seated in the right hand of the Father.
The resurrection: It was God the Father who resurrects Jesus, using His divine energy through the Holy Spirit.
The Fellowship: The Father which is Transcendent and JesusImmanence sit with Him at His right Hand. The Holy Spirit
is the one who occupy the universe (Gen 1:1) the made the Father and the Son One is the activator of the Divine energy.
When Jesus went to heaven He promised to send His Holy Spirit when He ascended to Heaven. During the Holy Spirit baptism,
it was the Holy Spirit Who pours out the power the Divine Energy. It is the Divine energy of God who made the early church
grew. It is also the divine energy of God who shows to Paul in the road of Damascus. Paul saw the light and hears the
voice of God. It is the divine energy through the Holy Spirit that appears to Paul. Jesus was in heaven and He will
not break His word that He will go back in the end times, in second coming. It is the Holy Spirit through Divine energy
of God.
Application: Never forget the meaning of the word immanence, Transcendent, Divine Energy, Love,
Fellowship, The Cross, Emotional Reaction, Resurrection and the Separation. These are the best elements when you explain
Trinity. This is also served as the manual of the theological and doctrinal issue. May this paper help you to explain
the theology of the trinity.
Conclusion: The fountain Head of Trinity is composed of the Father Pater,
The Son Filuis, and the Holy Spirit Sacntus. The Head of the trinity is the Father in their relationship but not
in their function. There is no first, second or third person in trinity. They are all equal in position and power.
The Father cannot be a Father without the Son and the relationship of the Father and the Son is nothing without the Holy
Spirit that binds them both. The Divine Energy of God is used through the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The illustration of the function of the trinity was when Jesus came to the earth and died and rose again and seated in
the right hand of the Father. It is the God the Father who loves Us and sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins and
His Holy Spirit will empower us to live in the likeness of Jesus.
Therefore the attribute of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit is different but in general what attributes they
had is the same and one because they are one God.
